Flight of the Snowbird by Jean Lively is a heartwarming story which is hard to find. What year was this story published, and in what state does it take place? Is author Jean Lively still alive? I first read this story in an American Literature textbook in grade school in 1981-1982. Benjy realizes how valuable his sister Sheryl is after he almost loses her in a near fatal skating accident on the ice. He learns to not take her for granted.
